What Parents are Saying

I feel very lucky to have found Concord in the City for my daughter.  The staff are second to none; caring, engaging, youthful, creative and accommodating.   The activities are fun and varied, sometimes in-house and sometimes around our great city. The building is cozy, clean and bright.  I know my daughter is safe and happy, in fact, very, very happy, whenever she is at Concord.

My brother Michael has participated in Concord in the City since 2013. Concord in the City fit a niche for us as Michael lacked social opportunities since he had aged out of school. As well, Concord in the City allowed Michael to develop concrete life skills with weekly trips on transit, grocery shopping and cooking. The staff at Concord in the City are professional and have a passion for working with adults with special needs.

Our Higher Ground Program is designed to assist participants who have graduated from post-secondary education. Our Higher Ground program runs on as needed basis with staff supporting participants with employment assistance with a focus on resume building, interview skills, and job skills, such as time management.

Our Higher Ground program works with participants to create a plan moving them towards gradual independence in their employment opportunities.

Our Compass Program runs Monday through Friday and offers opportunities to continue academic learning from previous educational experiences. Parents/families work with staff to create personalized goals. Through activities such as volunteering at local businesses, not for profits, community engagement through recreational programs, and outings; our Compass Program offers opportunities for social integration with peers and community. We believe that through the facilitation of daily life skills we promote independence in our participants.

Watch us, Kevin and Melissa, on A Voice For All with our good friend Jahmeelah Gamble as we discuss the day program
